Marine Corps Mustang Foundation annually grants scholarships to deserving Marines pursing further education selecting the recipients for the given year's awards based on the combination of factors to include: demonstrated leadership potential, numerical credentials (SAT/ACT scores and GPA), prior service experience and demonstrated history of overcoming hardships, ability to communicate effectively (short essay requirement), and other factors.

Eligibility: In order to be eligible for the scholarship program the potential recipient must have graduated from an accredited high school, or hold a high school diploma equivalent, intend to attend an accredited, baccalaureate degree granting, college or university for the given academic year, have previously, or currently, serve in the United States Marine Corps, and demonstrate track towards graduation and commission. The program is open to all current enlisted Active Duty and Reserve U. S. Marines and those former Marines having received an honorable discharge.

Grants: The Scholarship Committee will set the amount of the grants annually, with the maximum of each grant set at the annual tuition and fees costs of the recipient for the given academic year, based on number of eligible applicants, recipients, and available funds. The grants are not renewable, but the recipients can apply for subsequent annual awards, provided that they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
